It was quite fitting that Heung-min Son’s 100th Tottenham goal came courtesy of an assist from Harry Kane as the pair helped Spurs return to winning ways with a 3-0 win over Wolves.
The pair are now just three goals away from overtaking Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba as the most prolific combination in Premier League history as they teamed up for a 33rd time in the Premier League.
Son scored his 100th Tottenham goal with a smart first-time finish
Son’s strike came in between one for Kane himself and a Toby Alderweireld header as Spurs found themselves on the right side of some tiny margins to end a four-match winless streak in the top-flight.
Kane slotted away a penalty, meaning the England captain has now scored against all 30 Premier League sides he has faced, after Steven Bergwijn was adjudged to be fouled just inside the penalty area, although replays showed it was a very tight call.
And Alderweireld’s second-half header, given thanks to goalline technology, was over the line by a mere millimetre.
Kane rarely slips up from the penalty spot
Either way, the match represented a tactical victory for pragmatist Jose Mourinho over the more expressive Marcelo Bielsa, as Spurs nullified Leeds and exposed their weaknesses in defence.
The only negative for Mourinho came in the dying moments of the game as Matt Doherty was sent off following a second yellow card, meaning Tottenham ended with ten men.
