An Auckland 20-year-old who died weeks after his cancer diagnosis has been remembered as a compassionate, gentle and joyful soul by friends and family.
Daniel Rush is the third child his parents have farewelled, after his sisters Amy and Sophie died a year apart, in 2007 and 2008.

Pokemon soft toys lay alongside flowers on top of his casket. When the hearse left, mourners let yellow balloons into the sky, saying: Fly high, Pikachu.
His parents, Stephen and Claire Rush, said one his favourite activities was going for walks with his mum and playing Pokemon Go but cheating and catching Pokemon in the car was even better, they joked.
Yellow balloons were released after the service.
Daniel was a loving, kind-hearted young man, they said, whose cat was his world and who always welcomed new members of the family.
Fly high with the angels, bub, look after your sisters.
We love you forever. We will never forget you.
Daniels older siblings, Matthew Baxter and Emma Penny, also shared memories of their brother.
Baxter said Daniel formed an instant bond with his nephew and even from his hospital bed would make him roll on the floor in hysterics.
Penny said she was so proud of the resilience Daniel showed during his short but aggressive illness.
Daniel died on August 2, seven weeks after being diagnosed with brain cancer.
Daniel Rush was diagnosed with a grade 4 brain tumour after suffering from headaches.
In the week before his death, almost $24,000 was raised with the hope he would be able to tick off some of his bucket list.
Penny said Daniel was taken too soon from this Earth, unable to fulfil lifes goals, adventures and dreams.
Daniels love of gaming was a feature of many of the tributes. Penny said his passion for games, love of pop culture, caring nature and warm smile were all things she would never forget.
No amount of words can express how much I will miss you, she said.
