OTTAWA The Public Health Agency of Canada released guidelines Friday on what people can do if they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam says people are safe to do most activities, but those who are immunosuppressed should consider taking extra health precautions, even if they are double dosed.
Here are five things Canada’s top official says fully vaccinated people can do:
Hugs: The agency says people who are fully vaccinated can embrace without wearing a mask after fifteen months of being told to stay apart.
Small indoor gatherings: Just in time to watch for fans to watch the Montreal Canadiens enter the Stanley Cup final, the agency says those who have had two shots can get together at someone’s house unmasked and without staying apart.
Outdoor events: Health officials say no mask is needed for someone fully vaccinated headed to an outdoor wedding this summer or to play soccer with people they don’t know.
Gyms and places of worship: Someone with two shots should still try to get good air flow in these centres, the agency says, adding those with underlying health conditions should consider putting on a mask even if they are vaccinated.
Concerts: Tam says fully vaccinated people should still think about putting on a mask if they find themselves in a crowded indoor setting, like a big concert, sporting event or house party.
