Police are investigating after a number of gang members reportedly assaulted patrons outside a bar in Rotorua.
The assault happened shortly before midnight on Saturday outside the Rotorua Sports Bar on Arawa St, Detective Sergeant Caroline Wharton said.
A number of gang members reportedly assaulted patrons outside the bar in an unprovoked attack, which resulted in serious injuries to at least two people and injuries to multiple others.
Out of the two people seriously injured one was knocked unconscious and the other was kicked in the head.

A short while later, a mini van of more gang members turned up and continued the assault, which other innocent members of the public were caught up in.
No arrests have been made so far.
This incident was frightening for those caught up in it, and we are determined to hold those responsible to account, Wharton said.
She asked members of the public who saw what happened to come forward to help with their investigation.
