COLDPLAY fans are sure to be counting down to Sunday –“singing every second and dancing every hour” as their hit song goes — after news broke on Wednesday that the iconic British rock band will perform live over “ASAP Natin ‘To” on July 11.
In a short video message, no less than band frontman Chris Martin and lead guitarist Johnny Buckland invited Filipino fans to tune in to the ABS-CBN variety show and watch them sing their latest single, “Higher Power.” The invite has gone viral on the program’s social media platforms, with netizens specially thrilled with Martin’s closing spiel, “Thank you Asap Natin ‘To, Kapamilya.”
The band likewise uploaded a post on their official Facebook page to confirm their date with Filipino fans on Sunday. The post reads, “Hello Kapamilya! The band will be performing Higher Power for ASAP Natin ‘To LIVE this Sunday, July 11. 12 NN on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and TV5. Please watch out for it – it’s a special one!”
Tagging ABS-CBN and ASAP on the upload, the Facebook post has since garnered 52,000 likes and more than 7,000 comments.
Coldplay has a strong following in the country where tickets to their 2017 Manila concert sold out in a matter of hours. An estimated 35,000 concert-goers trooped to the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds for the one-night appearance of the rock band.
“Higher Power,” meanwhile, is the group’s latest single, which is also said to be the lead track of their upcoming album.
