Police have named 21-year-old Jason Rangi Paul as the diver who went missing off the coast of Mhia in Hawkes Bay.
On Monday morning, local boats helping with the search found Pauls body at 9am.
In a statement, police said Pauls death had been referred to the coroner.
Emergency services were first called just after 4pm on Sunday.

Search and Rescue staff, along with the rescue helicopter and several local fishing boats, began searching for Paul, from Nhaka, but the search was suspended overnight just after 8pm.
Police extend their sympathies to Mr Paul’s family and friends, police said.
