MOST Filipinos prefer the vaccines from Sinovac Biotech and Pfizer-BioNTech against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), according to a Social Weather Stations Survey.
The first quarter poll said 39 percent preferred Sinovac while 32 percent preferred Pfizer when asked to choose a vaccine that had been given Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) by the Philippines’ Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Twenty-two percent of the respondents chose the vaccine from Oxford-Astrazeneca, and only 10 percent said they would choose the one-dose jab from Johnson & Johnson.
Moderna, CureVax, Sinopharm, Novavax, Sanofi-GSK, and Gamaleya all obtained single-digit scores from the survey,
Two percent chose all 10 brands, while 19 percent did not give their preference from the 10-FDA-approved vaccines.
The SWS survey also showed that 63 percent of Filipinos prefer vaccines against Covid-19 sourced from the United States.
This was followed by China with 19 percent.
Over seven million vaccines had arrived in the country when the survey was conducted.
The face-to-face interview survey was conducted from April 28 to May 2 among 1,200 adult respondents from all over the country. It has a ±3 percent margin of error.
