She also discussed the time Colbert pranked her in New Zealand, promised she would soon return to the show for a live performance

Lorde sat down for an interview on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert tonight. She discussed her new album Solar Power, which is out August 20, and promised she would soon return to the show for a live performance. Watch the interview below.
Colbert mentioned that he was not allowed to show the albums artwork and asked her how the artwork came about. My friend just took it, she said. It was just me jumping over a friend on the beach. Its a little hardcore, but it was so joyful to me. It felt innocent and playful and a little bit feral. Colbert replied: If I had a butt like that, Id be jumping over somebody too.
Colbert also mentioned her tour and asked her if she was looking forward to being in front of audiences again. Im really excited, yeah, she said. It sort of doesnt seem real, but Im super keen. This album is so joyful and big and such a good thing to experience with a bunch of people, so Im glad the timing worked out that we could do a tour.
They also talked about the time Colbert pranked her in the Prime Minister Jacinda Arderns backyard. When Colbert asked for forgiveness, she said, well get there. They also talked about New Zealands handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Were lucky to have a really calm, steady government, she said as the New York crowd laughed.
Earlier this month Lorde released Solar Power, her first new music since releasing Melodrama in 2017. The song arrived with a music video co-directed by Lorde and Joel Kefali. In addition to sharing the albums release date and tracklist, Lorde announced a 2022 tour with dates across North America, Oceania, and Europe.
