Xbox Game Pass members can pre-install certain games before they launch on the subscription service, thanks to the Xbox console update rolling out to the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Series S beginning today.
The customary November dashboard update, arriving on the last day of the month, offers additional functionality to the three consoles. Notably, it adds an Auto HDR tag (to a paused screen when players open the guide) to let players know when that feature is active and working. Likewise, games that are optimized for Xbox Series X and Series S will carry that badge on their icons, in both the Games and Full Library tabs of the My Games and Apps section. The filter can also be adjusted to show only the games optimized for Series X and Series S, too.
The update also adds six more dynamic backgrounds, which debuted earlier in the month on the three consoles. Microsoft says some of these backgrounds are homages to previous generations of Xbox consoles, while others are based on popular profile themes.
For preloading Game Pass games that are coming soon, Microsoft notes that not all games in this section will have pre-install capabilities. That said, the Game Pass mobile app allows players to set their download to begin the minute its available on the games launch day.
